Brent Reservoir was built in the mid-1830s. Its siphon spillway was built in 1936 to prevent the dam from flooding during the flood. Since its completion, the spillway has been problematic in terms of siphon hydraulic characteristics. In order to establish a reliable relationship between the water level and the discharge, a physical and hydraulic model study was conducted to study the siphon hydraulic characteristics of the spillway. The study found that the original horn-shaped siphon system does not apply. Simulation test carried out in two stages. In the first phase, the existing geometry of the spillway was examined. According to the experimental results of the first stage, it is concluded that the air intake needs to be redesigned. In the second phase, various options for adjusting the air intake, as well as stable siphoning characteristics across the discharge area, were considered. The new geometry allows for very stable air conditioning without affecting spillway capacity and is insensitive to the tailrace level and to the wave conditions in the reservoir.
