Brazos, a precocious, medium-sized rice variety bred by the Agricultural Research Service of the U.S. Department of Agriculture in collaboration with the Texas Agricultural Experiment Station and the Texas Association for Rice Improvement, at the University of Texas Agricultural Research and Extension Center in Beaumont. The breed is made from the 1963 “Beaumont hybrid B6334A” C19545 × Nova cultivated. Brazos spikelets are straw-colored, glabrous, awn-free, apex colorless. The grain shape is similar to that of a typical U.S. Mesotype, but its size is larger than any medium-grain variety currently produced in the southern United States. The weight of polished rice is correspondingly heavier than that of Nato, Vista, Saturn and Nova66, and the short-grain breed Nortai. According to the 1971-1973 measurement results show that,
