In an age of small distribution, network managers are mostly reluctant to run the risk of running mission-critical tasks on LAN servers with lower performance and easier crashes. But do not worry, Super Server is about to enter the golden age. The super server market emerged in the early 1990s and continues to grow rapidly. There are currently more than 40 vendors that claim to offer a wide variety of superservers, including high-end models that are easily classified as minicomputers and low-end systems that are one notch higher than traditional personal computers. The technological advances of the past year have made the Super Server a complete system of capacity, performance, fault tolerance, multiprocessing support, large-scale disk arrays, and system management capabilities comparable to mainframes and minicomputers. The development of the super server makes it technically enough to replace the large system, but it is not easy to define it exactly. At present, the common definition methods include the following aspects: The super server has two or more RISC, Pentium or 80486 CPUs and adopts a hierarchical bus structure, in which a proprietary high-speed system bus is connected to a plurality of industry standards
