王赐琏是清嘉庆至光绪年间(1796—1880)万泉县西景村(今万荣县汉薛镇西景村)一名乡村教员。庄户人家出身,六十二岁方得一子,为教育后人尝作《诫子辞》千余言,可同《朱子治家格言》相媲美。《诫子辞》内容翔实,贴近民众生活;语言浅显,讲究押韵对偶。读之朗朗上口,容易记忆。百余年来,民间广为流传,被视为乡村“家教”的蒙学好教材。
Wang Chih-ting was a rural teacher from Qing Jiaqing to Guangxu years (1796-1880) West Village of Wanquan County (now West Village of Hanxue Town, Wanrong County). Chuang-tzu’s family background, with one son at the age of 62, can serve as a “post-mortem” for more than a thousand words for educating his descendants, comparable to that of “Zhu Zi’s aphorism.” “Commandments speech” informative, close to the public life; plain language, pay attention to rhyming duality. Reading catchy, easy to remember. For more than a hundred years, the folk have been widely circulated and regarded as enlightenment textbooks for rural families.
