Belden Inc., a worldwide leader in mission critical applications for signal transmission solutions, today announced the availability of the OCTOPUS OS30 / 34 switch, the newest addition to the Hirschmann OCTOPUS family. This rugged new switch is specifically designed for shipping, manufacturing and machine building to maximize network availability under extreme environmental conditions. The new OCTOPUS switch family takes full account of customer needs in today’s vast industrial environments, providing Gigabit ports for connecting to high-speed backbone networks and gigabit end devices and supporting Power over Ethernet (PoE) to reduce cabling. In addition, it can extend its redundancy mechanism and expand its functional range with bypass relays that comply with the IEC 61375 Train Ethernet standard.
