去年12月,《中共中央国务院关于加强科学技术普及工作的若干意见》发表,它不仅涉及到一般的科普工作,也涉及到新闻工作与科普工作的关系,对编辑记者搞好自己的工作也有重要意义,我们应当用这个文件来对照检查我们的工作,改进我们的工作。文件指出,科普工作的内容是:“传播科技知识、科学方法和科学思想”。这些内容都同新闻报道有密切关系。过去我们谈论新闻与科普的关系,往往指科技新闻。其实这只涉及了科普的一个内容,即传播科技知识。而科普的内容要广得多,我们其他方面的新闻报道也往往涉及到科学方法和科学思想的问题。
