神农架林区1986年被划为国家级自然保护区。前些年人们一直认为神农架山大、路远、人稀、人民的生活与山外差别较大,发展本地经济、改变面貌难度较大,并没有从神农架幽美的自然景观特征来认识神农架。如神农架具有山势雄伟,河谷深,最高峰神农顶海拔3105.4米,为华中第一峰,最低河谷398米。这里,耸入云天的座座峰峦,低陷幽暗的河谷走廊,群山屏蔽的山间盆地,开阔平坦的高山平原,构筑了别具一格的自然景观。
Shennongjia forest area was designated as a national nature reserve in 1986. A few years ago, people always thought that Shennongjia was a mountain, far away and thinly populated. People’s lives differed greatly from those in the mountains. It was more difficult to develop the local economy and change their appearance. There was no understanding of the Shennongjia from the beautiful nature of Shennongjia. Shennongjia such as the majestic mountains, valleys deep, the highest peak Shennong Ding elevation 3105.4 meters, the first peak in Central China, the lowest valley 398 meters. Here, towering peaks and valleys across the sky, low depression valley corridor, mountains and shielded mountain basin, open flat alpine plains, to build a unique natural landscape.
