植物体内物质运转的早期工作者大多设想叶片的同化产物在茎中几乎是没有横向运输的(参阅阿法纳西耶娃,1955)。Roach(1939)自叶柄注入染料溶液,清楚地看到了该溶液向邻近叶片运行和叶序的关系。近年若干同位素示踪试验也证明叶片同化产物的分配有一定的局限性。例如:Biddulph等(1958)发现菜豆的一小叶喂以C~(14)O_2或含P~(32)的溶液时,放射性物质只在与喂叶同一边茎中的部分稚管束中移动;等(1957)
Most of the early workers in plant matter assumed that the assimilation products of leaves were almost not translocated in the stem (see Afanasyeva, 1955). Roach (1939) injected the dye solution from the petiole and clearly saw the relationship of this solution to adjacent leaf runs and leaf sequences. In recent years, several isotope tracing experiments have also proved that the distribution of leaf assimilation products has some limitations. For example, Biddulph et al. (1958) found that when one leaflet of a kidney bean was fed with C 14 O 2 or P 32 solution, the radioactive material only moved in a part of the juvenile bundle in the stem on the same side as the leaf. 1957)
