宋芳蓉,32岁,土家族,15岁起走上小学讲台,现任湖北省五峰土家族自治县三坪希望小学校长。1996年,她被评为“中国十大杰出青年”并获得“五四青年奖章”。1997年5月4日,宋芳蓉到北京参加“五四青年奖章”的颁奖大会时,时任中共中央政治局常委的胡锦涛被她的事迹深深感动,带头向三坪希望基金捐款2000元,并语重心长地说:“小宋老师,我们想办法解决你和孩子们的实际困难。你以后就不要打工给学生交学费了,省下时间学点新知识,充充电。”
