本文以《红楼梦汉英习语词典》为参照,对《红楼梦》原著和王际真1929年英语节译本中歇后语和俗谚语的使用情况进行数据统计和量化分析。结果表明,王际真英译本中歇后语和俗谚语的选译情况印证了该译本节译的主要特点:以宝黛爱情故事为主线,突出女性人物的塑造和平民阶层人物的刻画。同时,笔者亦对译本中的习语翻译进行分析,探讨王际真习语翻译的规律性特征及其原因。
Based on the “A Dream of Red Mansions Chinese-English Idioms Dictionary”, this dissertation makes a statistical analysis and quantitative analysis of the usage of the clichés and vulgar idioms in the original version of A Dream of Red Mansions and Wang Jizhen’s 1929 English Festival translation. The results show that the translation of the Xihou language and the common saying proves the main features of the translation of the translated version of the translated text. Taking the poetic love story as the main line, the article highlights the shaping of the female figures and the depictions of the civilian class. At the same time, the author also analyzes the translation of idioms in the translation to explore the regularity of the translation of idioms in Wang Ji and its causes.
