一品红(Euphorbia pulcherrima Willd)为大戟科大戟属常绿或半常绿观叶木本花卉。根据栽培目的及整形方式的不同,植株高度可达5m 左右或仅维持40cm 左右。该植物花朵很小且无花被,但茎顶花序下面簇生的被针形苞片在花期呈鲜红色,为观赏的主要部位。此外,还有苞片为白色、粉红色的品种类型。一品红花期12月至次年3月,适逢西方许多国家的传统节日圣诞节,故被称为圣诞花,是这些国家欢庆圣诞节时的必备花木。此间也正值我国传统节日元旦和春节,故在我国也是很受欢迎的冬令节日花卉之一。其主要被用作盆花室内陈设及切花材料,在我国南方气候温暖的地区也常用于布置花坛、花带以及作为
