Estrogen can increase the concentration of α-lipoprotein (HDL) and very low density lipoprotein (VLDL) to reduce the concentration of β-lipoprotein (LDL), and the role of androgen is just the opposite. In recent years, Sifversto-lpe and Hirvonen have proposed that androgens such as demethyltestosterone derivatives have similar androgenic effects, while progesterone and its derivatives have less significant effects in this respect. The mechanism by which sex hormones affect plasma lipoprotein values has so far not been established. Applebaum has found in horses that estrogen significantly inhibits the activity of heparinized plasma lipase (PH-HL) and that the authors have demonstrated that derivatization with desmethyltestosterone Progesterone - 18-norgestrel increases PH-HL viability
