Charles V Palace, located in Granada, Spain, is a very special case of western architectural history. Located on the Iberian Peninsula on the southwestern tip of the European continent, it was originally a palace designed for the Holy Roman Emperor Charles V and his wife Queen Isabella, adjoining the medieval Moorish palace, Hill top, an old and new, complement each other. The interior of the palace of Granada was an inner circle, and the facade adopted the most “modern” design technique of the time, which was the heyday of the Renaissance represented by Rome in the early 16th century. However, this palace is far from plagiarism for Italian architecture; on the contrary, its originality, commemorativeness and magnificence exceed the secular architecture of contemporary Italy. In fact, we can find examples that can be matched only from later Italian architectural works. This article proposes a new understanding of the birth and existence of the Palace of Granada.
