十九世纪末,为“杜外人觊觎”和“兴利实边”清政府在产金丰富的漠河,仿照西方资本主义国家的做法,通过股份公司的形式,按照近代企业的生产经营管理方式开办金厂。漠河金厂在李金镛和袁大化两任总办的管理下产金日盛,但终因内政外事等因素而日渐萧条。1912年中华民国成立,作为洋务运动中兴办起来的近代工业企业,漠河金矿进入了新的历史时期。
