Brent oilfield development since the mid 70s, is now approaching the end of their economic life. However, the larger remaining oil reserves - albeit only 40% of the original reserves - and the higher oil-gas ratios make it possible to extend the life of the field by reducing reservoir pressure. This step-down will increase the field’s economic life by about 10 to 15 years. Due to the size and complexity of Brent field, this unique buck project in the world has brought a lot of uncertainty to the oilfield. Well completion design is extremely important in managing these uncertainties. Cost-effective reservoir management (layer separation) is a prerequisite and the well completion design selected should be adapted to the management of sand, scale and even H2S. In particular, some wells will require manual (gas) lift, although the number and location of these wells are largely unknown in advance. The single hole used in well completion design adaptability, less capital investment, simple and easy, and at any time under the gas lift equipment. Compared with the multistage leap-forward combined completions that Brent Field used in the past, singlehole completions saved 30% of capital investment and 65% of construction time. This article describes the main features of this well completion and gas lift.
