Wang Chuanshan took the Book of Songs and the Nineteen Ancient Poems as the model of ancient Chinese poetry. His comments and other expositions on Nineteen Ancient Poems reflect the uniqueness and originality, conservativeness and one-sidedness of his poetry theory and his criticism of poetry.
