天津北郊区霍赵季大洼,引种“北农1号”棉花,是我校农学系耕作组和天津北郊科委共同承担的开发项目之一,目的在于调整该地区的种植结构,增加经济效益,治穷致富。该项目经1983年到1985年连续三年的试验示范,均获得较好效果。“北农1号”棉花三年累计种植共346.5亩,(比种玉米)增加收入4.85万元。同时在大洼处扩种的1296.5亩,收益更高。
