王建中是个勤奋、执著、而又多面、勇于探索的画家,他的作品大致分为两类:一类倾向于当代,在“人蝗”、“迷失”等多个系列里,他用写实加表现的手法介入观念的运用,反映出他对当代环境及人性的积极思考,体现了一个当代画家深度的人文关怀和高度的社会责任感,这批作品从立意到表现手段都有其独到的地方;另一类作品包括《雪山》系列以及一些体量较小的风景
