近来,主张开展人才交流的呼声日甚。有的同志在强调人才交流重要性的同时,提出了在人才培养和学术问题上要革除“近亲繁殖”的现象。对前者,我举双手赞成;对后者,却不敢完全苟同。我觉得,对所谓“近亲繁殖”问题要作具体分折。首先,学术上的“近亲繁殖”与生物学上的“近亲繁殖”不能相提并论。生物学上的“近亲繁殖”不利于后代健康,这是显而易见的。但学术问题上的所谓“近亲繁殖”却并不那么简单。关键在于对“近亲繁殖”怎么理解。如果把“近亲繁殖”看作是对导师的学术思想、研究成果毫无创见的照抄照搬,不敢越雷池一步,这种“近亲繁殖”当然应该革除。但如果是师承了某家学派的优点和特点,加以发扬光大,并且有所创见,尽管有“近亲”之嫌,也是大可不必避讳的。因为思想资料从来就有历史继承性。离开前人研究的成果,“创造”只能是一句美丽的空话。牛顿就说过,“如果说我看得远,那是因为我站在巨人们的肩上”。

But the so-called “inbreeding” on academic issues is not that simple. The key is how to understand “inbreeding”. If we consider “inbreeding” as a mentor’s academic thought, the research results are copied without any creative means and do not dare to move further. Such “inbreeding” should of course be eradicated. However, if it is a teacher who has inherited the advantages and characteristics of a school of thought and has carried forward its ideas and creative ideas, it is absolutely necessary to avoid taboo, despite the suspicion of being a close relative. Because ideological data has historical succession. Left the results of previous studies, “create ” can only be a beautiful empty talk. Newton said, “If I look farther, it’s because I’m standing on the shoulders of giants.”
