放鹤洲位于嘉兴市城南路西南湖畔。唐德宗时,贤相陆贽建宅园于放鹤洲,因园中有放鹤亭故称为鹤渚。唐文宗时,宰相裴休又在洲上建别墅,改名为裴岛。南宋时,著名词人朱敦儒寓居嘉兴,辟裴岛为放鹤洲。到了明末,贵阳太守朱茂时重建放鹤洲,然而清朝中期,放鹤洲日渐衰落,直至2004年放鹤洲被重建成当地重要的人文休闲景点。

By the end of the Ming Dynasty, Guiyang prefect Zhu Mao had rebuilt and placed Hok Chau. However, in the mid-Qing dynasty, the liberation of Hok Chau gradually declined. It was not until 2004 that Hok Chau was rebuilt into an important cultural and recreational attraction in the area.
