“皋芦”一词作为茶树的代名词或茶树的一种,在我国历史文献中,如《桐君录》;唐《茶经》;明《本草纲目》;《中国植物图鉴》(1936)等都有记载。德国P.E.Siebolda(1852)认为皋芦是一个变种,命名为Var.macrophylla,即中国大叶变种,并记述该种野生于中国南部。日本牧野(1918)将皋芦上升为种,订名为Thea macrophylla Makino,并报道其特征。在Cohen Stuart(1919)对茶树的分类和R.Sealy,(1958)《山茶属的
