Sherwood Anderson is considered as one of the most important writers in American novel writing in the 20th century. His 1919 “Little Tortoise” laid its position in the history of American literature. Taking the growing novel as a starting point, we can trace the growth course of the protagonist George Willard in the path of meaningful life under the influence of the villainous people and give hope to the people in the indifferent society of industrialized big cities.
