If measured by international standards, the utilization rate of Finnish timber is higher than that of the Soviet Union, the United States and Canada. Much of the timber resources in these countries are still being abandoned in the logging zone. Take Sweden, the minimum specifications of the products are also more than Finland. However, the use of residues remains a pressing issue that Finland urgently needs to address. In northern Finland, the harvesting of mature forests, especially the harvesting of broad-leaved trees, is often not exploited due to decay or bending of the trees. According to surveys of several forestry bureaus in northern Finland, about a quarter of broad-leaved tree trunks are considered as waste left in the cutting area. As can be seen from Table 1, only about 10% of the tree trunks remain unused in the cutting area each year. Taking into account shrubs, spikes, treetops, and shrubs on agricultural land, the amount of unutilized resources is considerable. According to statistics, 40% of the biomass is still discarded. If these parts can be fully utilized, the use of Finnish forest resources will show a new face
