The U.S. Armed Forces Institute of Radiobiology is the only US military research institute specializing in nuclear and radiation medicine. Its mission is to “protect the U.S. military’s security and combat effectiveness by studying the effects of radiation and radiation.” This article introduces the current status and development trend of the institute’s management structure, infrastructure, key research directions and education and training.
