石桥铺小流域是长江北岸浠水西源(西河)上的一条支流,位于罗田县石桥铺公社。由方家山河、七里冲、七屋河、文斗河汇集而成,总集水面积25.2平方公里(37,800亩)。干流长6.53公里,河网密度2.24公里/平方公里。流域海拔高程124—700米,平均高程249米,平均坡度21°(379‰)。低山区占全流域总面积的5%,丘陵区占84%,河谷占11%,属于低山丘陵地貌。年平均气温16.7℃,降雨量1,312.3毫米,蒸发量1,025.6毫米。气候温和,雨量充沛。4—9月为汛期,暴雨集中在6—8三个月。地质主要为花岗片麻岩、角闪石片麻岩和大别山杂岩。岩层强烈风化带厚达1米左右。基岩出露面积占小流域总面积的53.4%。土壤以砂壤土为主,占流域总面积38%,其次是砂土夹块石,占5%,中壤占2%,重砾质砂壤土占1%,磷土占0.4%,亚粘土夹块石占0.2%。
