新疆,它的面积占全国六分之一,相当于三个法国,是地大物博、富饶美丽的地方,亟待人们开发。早在五十年代,我们伟大祖国的许多优秀儿女响应党的号召来到这里,支援边疆的社会主义建设,作出了永垂史册的业绩。在支援边疆建设的知识分子中,有一位安心边疆教育事业,在中专学校数学的平凡岗位上勤奋工作、取得突出成绩的女教师,她就是乌鲁木齐煤矿学校的优秀教师单一曼。单一曼同志出生在江南鱼米之乡、太湖之滨的无锡,今年已52岁,是北京矿业学院1956年的毕业生。她在大学攻读了机电专业,毕业后先是分配在煤炭部技术司工作,后来,她舍弃了优越的工作和生活
