有的地方关工委在城乡、社区创建了校外辅导站,发动五老担任辅导员,利用课余和假期时间对青少年开展德育和社会实践教育,并且无偿提供才艺拓展、课业辅导、心理疏导、生活照顾等多种关爱服务,群众称之为“寓教于乐的假日乐园,未成年人健康成长的社会摇篮”。有的省发展很快,已建立4万多个辅导站,五老辅导员15万余名,各类兼职辅导员11万余名,配备电脑4.5万台,建立了多个电子阅览室。
