自从一些高等学校获准建立编辑专业以来,关于编辑专业的正轨化高等教育已有了好几种教学形式的探索(包括学制模式、课程设置、招生方式等),取得了不少成绩,积累了一定的经验。同时也遇到了一些共同的困难,特别是毕业生分配的困难,直接影响了编辑专业的正常发展。由于出版社的整顿和编制定额的限制,由于编辑出版部门对编辑专业培养出来的学生只学两年基础知识课不尽满意,好些大学的编辑专业毕业生分配不到编辑岗位,使他们不敢继续招生,以致专业建设难以为继。有的大学的编辑专业甚至因此而名存实亡。
