In 2008, it was already a full stop. No matter what kind of glory and dreams the fashion world has experienced this year, under the powerful collision of the global economy, the road to the future of 2009 will have to go forward, especially if it seems unusual. However, while various speculations are still uncertain, a French luxury industry development professional research institute predicts that the luxury goods industry may experience a recession in 2009. The report proposes that the constant change of the exchange rate and the uncertainty of the global economy will shake the confidence of consumers in mature luxury markets such as Europe, North America, and Japan, which account for 80% of the global luxury goods industry. Therefore, the luxury market in 2009 will have a negative growth of 2% to 7% depending on exchange rate changes. This will also likely be the first decline in the luxury goods industry in six years.
