Due to the limited reserves of nickel sulphide ores and the increasing demand for such metals, nickel is increasingly becoming a staple metal. Low-grade laterite ore nickel-iron ore is widely distributed and is a huge potential resource of metallic nickel, which has aroused the researchers’ attention a long time ago. Research into the recovery of nickel from such ores has taken place along the lines of firemaking, hydrometallurgy and heat treatment.
