静海寺是150多年前丧权辱国的《南京条约》的签定地,西方列强欺侮东方巨人的百年史,就是从这里首开纪录的。 静海寺位于南京兴中门外狮子山西南麓,是明成祖永乐九年为郑和下西洋修建的。建此寺的目的,一是为表彰郑和“海外平服、固建此寺”,二是因为当时航海没有气象预报,舰船往来于茫茫无垠的大海之中,斗狂风,迎恶浪,总能平安往返,被认为是海神保佑的结果,敕建“海安”寺,取“四海平静”之意。
