The Efficiency of Blasting in Concentrated Medicine Packs under Free-Surface Conditions During the blasting process, rock fragmentation develops from the free surface toward the deepening of the kits. Tension waves, formed by pressure waves reflected by two or more free surfaces, collide in the rock and, as a result, generate large local tensile stresses. The rock fragmentation caused by this tensile stress interaction starts from the intersection of these free surfaces and develops toward the rock mass (Figure 1).
