In countries where smoking is common and decades-old smoking history, a significant portion of premature deaths are caused by smoking. This article attempts to estimate smoking deaths in developed countries in the past 10 years, middle-aged (35 to 59 years) and middle-aged and elderly (60 to 69 years). Since most countries do not yet have information on the proportion of deaths from smoking among the major causes of death, this study used a prospective US study and data on disease deaths in various countries to indirectly report on the incidence of smoking-induced mortality in developed countries estimate.
