The Soviet Union’s Barnaulisk Machine Works developed and mass-produced an improved air cushion (Figure 1). The air cushion has a mechanism for adjusting the supporting plate directly from the operator’s work place and a device capable of quickly lowering the piston without releasing the compressed air in the air tank when replacing and adjusting the die.
