1939年,著名作家阿英意外地通过肖华得到了25幅画于红军长征途中的速写作品。他逐一看过之后,认为它们很有艺术与史料价值,于是就通过上海风雨书屋将其结集出版,并仿照《西行漫记》的书名,给画册取名为《西行漫画》。当时,阿英误以为提供画稿的肖华是作者。直到1961年有关编辑才从外交部副部长黄镇同志那里了解到,这25幅速写其实是他在长征途中所画的部分作品。
