I. INTRODUCTION Nowadays, the amount of data processed by personal computers and its computational complexity are increasing exponentially, which imposes unbelievable demands on microprocessors. New communications, gaming and educational entertainment software, DVDs, 3D graphics, animation, audio and virtual reality all pose unprecedented demands on machine performance. Intel MMX ™ technology was developed to accelerate multimedia and communications applications, including new instruction sets and data types that allow applications to take a new level. It uncovers the inherent parallelism in many multimedia and communications software while still maintaining full compatibility with existing operating systems and applications.
