The United States Morrison Knudsen company is a franchise locomotive repair and manufacture of some passenger and freight vehicles business. On May 31, 1991, the first F40PHM-2C new passenger diesel locomotive was delivered by the company’s Boise Locomotive Repair Factory in Idaho to Massachusetts Shipping Co., USA. This is the first of a total of 9 locomotives the carrier ordered from MK. The delivery of the locomotive marks a new milestone for MK. According to MK, all other major components of the locomotive are designed and manufactured by the company itself, with the exception of diesel engines, main generators, bogies and driver’s cabs.
