Concern about gender language in Chinese linguistics began in the 1960s. A large number of translational introductory essays were published in foreign language academic journals, followed by large-scale theoretical studies. Chen Yuan’s “Sociolinguistics” (1983), Chen Song Cen’s “Sociolinguistics Course” (1985), Wang Dechun’s “Social Psycholinguistics” (1995) have studied from different angles. As the issue of gender differences in language has become a consensus, the issue of the interrelationship between gender social differences and language use has also become a matter of concern to linguistic researchers.
