湘西民间画艺,采当地秀丽山川、厚重文化之灵气,形成了苗画、烙画、天然材料粘塑画等鲜活多样的民间绘画艺种,具有鲜明的地方特性,展现出顽强的生命力和可喜的发展态势。这几种画艺构思独特、技艺讲究,虽然在民间都只有极少数艺人从事创作,但却因为作品的精美与富有艺术个性和地方特色而受到社会各界的广泛喜爱和好评。
