Objective To investigate the expression of human epididymal protein 4 (HE4), carbohydrate antigen 125 (CA125) in endometrial carcinoma and its relationship with the clinicopathological parameters of endometrial carcinoma. Methods Eighty patients with endometrial cancer undergoing surgery in our hospital from January 2014 to January 2016 were selected as the study subjects. In the same period, 23 cases with atypical hyperplasia of uterus were selected as atypical hyperplasia group and 46 cases with normal healthy endometrium as control group. The chemiluminescence microparticle immunoassay (CMIA) was used to detect the levels of HE4 and CA125 in the serum of the subjects. Results The levels of serum HE4 and CA125 in endometrial carcinoma group were significantly higher than those in atypical hyperplasia group (P <0.05). The levels of serum HE4 and CA125 in endometrial dysplasia group were significantly higher than those in control group (P <0.05). Serum levels of HE4 and CA125 were not significantly correlated with age, histological grade and pathological type of endometrial carcinoma (P> 0.05). Serum levels of HE4 and CA125 in patients with endometrial carcinoma from stage Ⅲ to Ⅳ were significantly higher than those in patients with stage Ⅰ ~ Ⅱ (P <0.05). The levels of serum HE4 and CA125 in patients with myometrial invasion were significantly higher than those without myometrial invasion (P <0.05). The levels of serum HE4 and CA125 in patients with lymph node metastasis were significantly higher than those without lymph node metastasis. Conclusions Serum levels of HE4 and CA125 are highly expressed in endometrial cancer patients, suggesting that both of them are involved in the development of endometrial cancer.
