1994年9月27日中国乒乓球队在天津囊括了第12届亚洲乒乓球锦标赛七项冠军后连夜返回北京。第二天匆忙准备行装,29日飞赴日本广岛参加第12届亚运会。 与亚洲锦标赛相比,亚运会乒乓球比赛真是冷冷清清。报名参加比赛的总共只有14个国家和地区。他们是:不丹、柬埔寨、中国、香港、印度尼西亚、日本、韩国、澳门、马尔代夫、巴勒斯坦、新加坡、中国台北、越南,而参加男女团体赛的只有10个队,男子单打29人、女子单打24人、男子双打21对、女子双打18对、混合双打22对。 比赛的日程排得很松。第一阶段的比赛实力又过分悬殊,经常是3:0比分一边倒,40分钟结束一场团体赛。而大会往返车辆安排竟然
On September 27, 1994, the Chinese table tennis team returned to Beijing overnight after collecting the first seven titles of the 12th Asian Table Tennis Championships in Tianjin. The second day in a hurry to prepare luggage, flew to Japan on the 29th to attend the 12th Asian Games in Hiroshima.
