Normal people feel tired when they often play a few yawns, yawn deep breathing increased oxygen inhalation can make people temporarily alleviate the fatigue. However, the elderly, especially those with high blood pressure and cerebral arteriosclerosis, frequently yawn and may be the precursor to ischemic stroke. Therefore, vigilance should be raised. Approximately 70% to 80% of patients with ischemic stroke have frequent yawning due to cerebral ischemia and hypoxia about a week before their onset. The reason is the elderly, especially those with hypertension, cerebral arteriosclerosis, due to atherosclerosis, narrowing of the lumen, reduced elasticity of the vessel wall, resulting in decreased blood flow to the brain, and the brain is very sensitive to oxygen, only About 2% of the body weight of the brain, but consumes about 25% of systemic oxygen demand, therefore, when the brain ischemia and hypoxia, which caused yawn frequently. At the same time, yawning can also reduce the pressure in the chest, upper and lower vena cava reflux heart increased blood volume, cardiac output increased blood supply, brain cell blood supply improved. However, this improvement is temporary, so frequent yawning often indicates that ischemic stroke may occur in the near future.
