七坡林场始建于1952年,是广西区林业局直属的大型国有林场,位于首府南宁市西南面。全场共有职工1372人,其中在职774人,离退休598人。场党委下设10个党支部,共有党员287人,约占职工总数的21%。林场场内经营面积28万亩,其中有林面积约18万亩,森林总蓄积量108万立方米。总场下辖4个营林分场和木材加工厂、松香厂等工业企业。据调查,几年前的七坡林场,还是一个生产基础薄弱、职工收入比较底的林场。由于当时国家对林场进行财政、人事等体制改革,地方财政投人不足,加上人员负担沉重,林场经济入不敷出,负债率高;职工上访告状偶有发生,改革与发展滞后。
