A reliable, accurate head (dam level) measurement is achieved by measuring pressure in front of the turbine and measuring the opening of the vane, avoiding the need to measure water levels and measurements at the dam to the plant floor. The microprocessor-based TVR-100 series controllers provide water level control for maximum energy output. Additional control functions are also available with this device. Small-scale hydropower stations are a marginal resource that is extremely sensitive to the cost of fees. Therefore, both the design and operation should be as effective as possible investment. In this article, we discuss how small-scale hydropower stations can implement dredging dam water level measurement and control techniques to increase electrical output. Automatic control of the power plant can further reduce operating costs and minimal operational management. The microprocessor-based TVR-100 controller has been operating satisfactorily for almost a year.
