As the basis of a nation and a country, culture plays the role of a cohesive force in the development of a country. The development of culture promotes the political and economic development of the country. Cultural exchange is the driving force of cultural development and an important driving force for the development of human society and the progress of civilization. As an important part of the overall national strength of all countries, the influence of cultural soft power is growing. As the two most influential powers in the world today, China and Japan should pay close attention to the cultural exchanges between the two countries. This article explores the reasons for the cultural exchanges between China and Japan after the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1972 through three aspects: the cultural exchanges between China and Japan, the improvement of China’s international status and overall national strength, and the Sino-Japanese folk culture.
