金属切削加工的成本高低,在很大程度上取决于刀具的寿命。国内外有许多种提高刀具寿命的表面处理方法,但阐明强化机理、评介表面处理方法的选择原则的文章甚少。应该指出,要根据刀具材料和切削条件,正确地选择或发展新的表面处理方法,必须以强化机理为基础。笔者认为,按强化机理的不同,可将各种表面处理方法分为三类:
