一九八一年六月和一九八二年十月,我们先后起草了《盐阜区在党领导下进行的革命斗争简史》(以下简称《简史》)、《胡乔木同志早期在盐城的办报活动》(以下简称《活动》)两份文稿,由中共盐城地委宣传部送请胡乔木同志审阅修改.不久,胡乔木同志寄来修改稿,前一篇文稿修改了二十三处,连一些不准确的标点符号都作了更正;后一篇文稿接连修改两遍,改动更大更多.我们从胡乔木同志修改过的两份文稿中,学到了许多东西,受到了很深刻的教育和启发.坚持实事求是,如实反映情况,这是胡乔木同志对文稿的基本要求和修改文稿的基本原则.这两篇文稿都属于史料整理,而史料更要求如实反映历史面貌.一开始,我们在这方面做得很不够,乔木同志审稿时,对一些与史实不符的材料都作了修正.例如,《简史》原稿中有这样一段话:
In June 1981 and October 1982, we drafted a brief history of the revolutionary struggle under the leadership of the party in Yanfu District (hereinafter referred to as “Brief History”), “Comrade Hu Qiaomu’s Yancheng newspaper activities ”(hereinafter referred to as“ activities ”) two manuscripts by the Propaganda Department of the CPC Yancheng Committee Comrade Hu Qiaomu comrades reviewed and revised .After a while, Comrade Hu Qiaomu sent a revised draft, the previous article revised twenty Three, even some of the inaccurate punctuation were corrected; after a subsequent revision two times, changes larger and more .We have learned many things from the two manuscripts edited by Comrade Hu Qiaomu, by Profound education and enlightenment, and insisting on seeking truth from facts and truthfully reflecting the situation are the basic requirements for Comrade Hu Qiaomu’s basic requirements for manuscripts and the basic principles for the revision of manuscripts, both of which are historical materials and more historical materials that accurately reflect the historical features. At first, we did not do enough in this respect, and when we reviewed the draft, we revised some materials that are inconsistent with the historical facts.
