江南地区是东岳庙分布最广泛、数量最多、密集程度最高的地区之一,东岳庙会在当地的社会生活中占有重要地位。其组织和参与有较强的地区性、行业性,庙会上有大规模的民间艺术表演活动。庙会规模大,庙会期间的花费也大,经费多来自绅商和百姓的集资。因泰山神有“收神治鬼”之功,在民间诸神体系中具有崇高的地位,故在庙会期间同其他神庙有较多的联系。此外,江南地区东岳庙会的兴盛与明代倭乱有关。
One of the areas with the most extensive distribution, the largest number and the highest concentration of Dongyue Temple in the south of Yangtze River, Dongyue Temple Fair occupies an important position in the local social life. The organization and participation of a strong regional, industry, the temple has a large-scale folk art performances.
