“我国已进入国民 经济和社会发展的第八 个五年计划,我国的社 会主义现代化建设事业 和改革开放事业在继续向前发展,图书馆也将会获得新的更大发展,党和政府对图书馆工作寄予了很大希望。”党的十三届七中全会通过的《中共中央关于制定国民经济和社会发展十年规划和“八五”计划的建议》,提出了我国今后5——10年奋斗目标,为我们指明了前进的方向。面对未来十年的新任务新要求、图书馆工作也应进入一个新的领域,要立足我国国情,以坚实的步伐走向新世纪。笔者认为,今后十年图书馆应着重做好以下几个方面工作:

Faced with the new tasks and new requirements in the coming decade, the work of the library should also enter into a new field. We must base ourselves on our own national conditions and at a solid pace toward the new century. In my opinion, the library should focus on the following aspects in the next ten years:
