日本东洋大学石井敦教授编制的《日本公共图书馆大事年表》,像一面镜子,清晰地反映出日本公共图书馆事业的发展概况,具有可靠的史料价值。从中,我们可以了解到日本公共图书馆,包括国家图书馆,府、县、市图书馆,儿童图书馆和农村、街道基层图书馆(室)的发展情况;图书馆活动情况;馆员的培训和管理情况以及日本政府对图书馆事业的重视情况等等,以鉴古知今,为我所用。为此,特将此表译出,奉献给图书馆同仁特别是有志于图书馆事业史研究的同志参考。
The “Japan Public Library Events Chronology” prepared by Professor Ishii Ito of Toyo University, like a mirror, clearly reflects the general situation of the development of public libraries in Japan and has reliable historical value.
